St John's Nursery Playgroup (Baker St) was founded by a group of Church members in 1965. In 1979 St John's opened another playgroup at Sunny Bank School, which transferred in 2008 to premises within Oakmere School, Chace Avenue. In September 2023 the Oakmere Playgroup moved to The Wayside Jubilee Centre, just down the road from the school. They both remain one of our most important services to the local community. The Church, through the Nursery Playgroups Board, has oversight of the management and finances. 

 

The Playgroups provide the highest quality early years care and education. Children from all cultural and religious backgrounds play in a safe, supportive and stimulating environment.

 

Both Playgroups meet in cheerful, child friendly settings, with well equipped outside activity areas They are staffed by qualified and experienced professionals.

 

OFSTED has rated the Baker Street Playgroup as ”Good" and Oakmere Nursery Playgroup as "Outstanding" in all areas, in recognition of the very high standards achieved.

 

St John's at Baker Street is for children from the term after they are 2 years. 

St John's at The Wayside Jubilee Centre is for children from their 2nd birthday.
